GUIDE: SHIPPING POLICY & PROCESS

How to request shipping and what to expect.

Overview

Shipping at Bid Boss is optional and flexible, ranging from small parcels to full truckloads. However, it is not automatic. To ensure your items are shipped, you must follow the correct request process during registration.

1. THE “SHIPPING REQUESTED” CHECKBOX

The most critical step happens before you bid.

  • Registration: You must check the “Shipping Requested” box when registering.
  • The Default: If unchecked, we assume you are picking up in person.
  • The Risk: Failure to check this box may result in items being staged for pickup, creating delays or forfeiture.

2. THE SHIPPING PROCESS

We do not use flat rates. Shipping is calculated specifically for your order.

  • Auction Close: You win your items.
  • Calculation: We verify address, measure/weigh items, and calculate shipping using discounted carrier rates.
  • Invoice Update: Shipping costs are added to your invoice.
  • Payment & Release: Items are released only after the full invoice is paid.

3. CARRIERS & RATES

We partner with major national and cross-border carriers to secure competitive commercial pricing.

  • Tracking: All shipments include tracking numbers.
  • Scope: Small parcels, pallets, and full truckloads.
  • Cost Factors: Weight, dimensions, distance, and destination.

Exact shipping quotes cannot be provided before auction close.

4. U.S. BUYERS (Duties & Imports)

  • Your Responsibility: Duties, brokerage fees, tariffs, and import taxes.
  • Not Included: These fees are not collected by Bid Boss.
  • No Disputes: Duties or tariffs are not grounds for cancellation or refund.

5. RISK CONTROL: ADDRESS MATCHING

To prevent fraud, shipping details are closely monitored.

  • The Rule: Shipping and billing addresses should match.
  • The Consequence: Unexplained discrepancies may trigger security review or account restriction.

6. COMMON MISTAKES TO AVOID

  • Forgetting the Checkbox: Assuming shipping can be requested later.
  • Assuming Free Shipping: Handling fees do not include shipping.
  • Delaying Payment: Late payment risks missing the release window and forfeiture.

Final Word

If you need shipping, request it upfront. If you are unsure about the cost of shipping a heavy or oversized item, do not bid. Shipping costs are always the buyer’s responsibility.
